Adult Programs

“The World’s a Stage Players ‘Playing Shakespeare’ Workshop” Sunday, Feb. 26, 1:30 p.m.

Open to participants and observers alike, this series of theater workshops will tackle using both verse and prose, finding character through language, exploring speeches and soliloquies, and utilizing irony, passion, and coolness. This particular workshop will focus on irony and ambiguity, as well as passion and coolness. Program will take place in the Goodwin Forum at the Main Library. “Author Talk: Henriette Lazaridis, author of Terra Nova” Tuesday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m.

Join author Henriette Lazaridis for a discussion of her new book Terra Nova in the Goodwin Forum at the Main Library. A lifelong fascination with explorer Robert Falcon Scott led her to write Terra Nova, a story about two fictional Antarctic explorers in 1910 and the woman who loves them both.

“Poetry at the Library Presents: Mikko Harvey and Nina MacLaughlin” Sunday, March 5, 2 p.m.

Join us for an afternoon in the Goodwin Forum at the Main Library with award-winning poets Mikko Harvey and Nina MacLaughlin, who will read from their works and engage in a Q&A about their inspirations and craft. This series is sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.

Teen Programs

“Make Your Own Video Game with Coderdojo” Saturday, Feb. 25, 2 p.m.

Videogame designer and master coder Matthew Mackowski will lead this program for ages 7 – 17 in the Teen Lounge at the Main Library. Teen participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of coding and get an inside look at the videogame industry and what it takes to become a designer. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop. No registration required.

“Teen Pokemon Trivia” Monday, Feb. 27, 4 p.m.

Teens! Celebrate National Pokemon Day at the Library with Pokemon Trivia! Compete to win the grand prize: your very own custom 3D printed Pokemon. Program will take place in the Teen Lounge at the Main Library. No registration required.

Children’s Programs

“Pokemon Day” Monday, Feb. 27, ALL DAY

We’re celebrating Pokemon Day all day at the Main Library! Join us for games, a scavenger hunt, and more! No registration required.

“Cursive Workshops at Fowler” Wednesday, March 1, 2 p.m.

Learn cursive! Taught by members of the Paul Revere chapter with support from the Old Concord chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, these three classes aim to promote and engage elementary school age children in the reading and writing of cursive. The objective of this three-session series is to provide hands-on experience, encouraging and supporting participants as they learn cursive penmanship. Ages 7-12. Program will take place at the Fowler Branch Library.
