Cornelia “Connie” A. (Murphy) Davidson, a resident of Concord, Mass. for 55 years and most recently of Westborough, died on December 9, 2023. She was 91.
Raised in Brighton, Connie was the only child of Peter P. and Annie Murphy, both of whom immigrated to the U.S. from Ireland in the early 1900s. As a youth, Connie enjoyed summers in New Hampshire, where she discovered a love of horseback riding, an activity she returned to in her seventies.
She graduated from Our Lady of the Presentation Academy in 1950 and from Regis College in 1954 with a BA in history. She was active in the Regis alumnae association and served as class secretary from 1989 to 1994. She maintained many lifelong friendships from her school days.
Connie worked as a reference librarian at Cambridge Public Library from 1954 to 1962. After raising her family, she returned to library sciences, helping convert card catalogs for Maxwell Library Systems and Comstow Information Services from 1984 until her retirement in 1996.
Connie was an active member of Holy Family Parish in Concord, where she served on the Social Action and Justice Commission. She was also an avid reader, engaging conversationalist, and sports enthusiast. As such, she brought an informed perspective to family discussions and friendly debates, as well as a competitive spirit to any and all family backyard games.
Connie is predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Robert W. Davidson. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Anne M. and Andrew Duffy of Shrewsbury; Robert P. and Janet Davidson of Scituate; Mark W. and Katherine Lewis Davidson of Lexington; and nine grandchildren, Erin, Neal, and Liam Duffy; Caitlin, Matthew, Elizabeth, and Meaghan Davidson; and Peter and Victoria Davidson.
