Wendy Lynn (Jones) Roy, age 67, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024. Wendy was born in Concord on November 5, 1956, and was the daughter of Nellie Grant Christie MacRae and Oscar Jones. She was predeceased by her sisters Shirley Schwartz and Elsie Hancock and survived by her loving husband of 43 years, David C Roy, and her son Jeremy Roy, his wife Connie and children Gavin and Evelyn; daughter Heather Desrochers and husband Brad; children MacKenzie and Trevor, son Joshua Roy and children Billy and Luna, daughter Heidi Roy and her son Matthew, daughter Laura Bettez and her husband Dave and their son Leonard, as well as innumerable nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wendy grew up in Concord and graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School. She shadowed her mother in the flower business at Colonial Gardens.
In 1981, Wendy married her soulmate, David, at West Concord Union Church. Together, they raised their five children in Townsend. Wendy loved to spend time raising her children, playing board games, the piano, and singing with them. Wendy also cared for her pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds.
She enjoyed making meals for the first responders and cakes for her business, Wendy’s Just Desserts. She also supported the Townsend Fire Department through the Townsend Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, which delivered hot coffee and meals to firefighters working fire scenes.
In her free time, Wendy loved to do all sorts of crafts, including crocheting, sewing, quilting, and making ceramics. She also made homemade Christmas gifts for her whole family, including parents, children, nieces, and nephews. Wendy enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, fishing, playing card games with friends, and supporting her friends at open mic nights at Main Street Café in Concord.
Most recently, Wendy settled into her dream retirement home in Derby Line-Holland, Vermont, where she had vacationed for years.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Wendy during visiting hours on Thursday, April 4, from 4-7 p.m. at the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap Street. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 5, at 10 a.m.
