While visiting their daughter in Los Angeles recently, John and Jana Gardella paid their respects at the grave of Concordian Ellen Garrison Clark at the Altadena Cemetery.
John Gardella, who serves on the Friends of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery board, sprinkled soil from his Concord garden around the grave of the educator and civil rights activist.
Garrison died in 1892 and had been buried in a registered but unmarked plot until, on Juneteenth, 2021, the Altadena Historical Society placed a stone at her final resting place.
