Wednesday, September 25
12:42 a.m. A 911 caller reported two men were fighting in front of a Monument Square hotel. Police responded and spoke to the men, who said the argument was verbal and there was no physical altercation.
6:55 a.m. A 911 caller reported a car hit a person riding a scooter on Elm Street. An ambulance took the person, who was conscious, alert, and complaining of a leg injury, to Lahey Hospital. A family member collected the scooter from the crash scene.
11:38 a.m. A resident reported a possible sick raccoon near the intersection of Grant and Byron Streets. Police asked the animal control officer to follow up.
Thursday, September 26
9:23 a.m.: Someone reported two black dogs running in the roadway on Monument Street. The animal control officer picked up the dogs.
11:14 a.m. An employee of a Walden Street business reported a resident called him “saying threatening things.” Police responded.
Friday, September 27
10:05 a.m. The property manager at Ripley Hill Road reported a small golden retriever had run away from the residence. Police called the animal control officer for follow-up, but the property manager called back later to tell police they had found the dog.
12:59 p.m. A 911 caller reported a three-car crash on Elm Street involving seven passengers and airbag deployment in one vehicle. An ambulance took one person to Emerson Hospital, and tow trucks cleared all three cars from the street. Acton police closed Great Road at Wetherbee Road to traffic. Concord police issued a written warning to the driver of a Ford involved in the crash for failure to use care when turning.
1:40 p.m. A 44-year-old Braintree man faces a litany of larceny-related charges after police say they caught him in the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail parking lot changing the license plate on a car he allegedly stole minutes before. Police spotted the stolen vehicle after the owner of the black Toyota Corolla called 911 to report their car was stolen sometime in the last 30 minutes. Police detained the man and learned the stolen vehicle contained previously reported stolen items as well. Police charged him with larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, obstruction of justice, vandalizing property, and concealing a license plate. The man also had a misdemeanor warrant. A clerk later set cash bail.
3:58 p.m. An Old Bedford Road resident reported receiving unemployment benefits they did not apply for. Police are investigating.
Saturday, September 28
1:05 a.m. A 33-year-old Acton resident faces a drunken-driving charge after police stopped a blue Audi A4 that an officer saw speeding and swerving on Route 2 West near Elm Street. The driver was charged with operating under the influence, speeding, and marked-lane violations. A tow truck cleared the car.
2:34 a.m. A 911 caller reported a box truck drove into a brook by their Sudbury Road home. The woman told police her husband was checking on the driver, who suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment. The crash that sent the truck nose down into the creek also snapped a utility pole, stretching wires. Police called the Municipal Light Plant to assist. The truck driver’s boss picked him up from the scene. A tow truck removed the damaged vehicle.
10:48 a.m. Someone walking on Balls Hill Road called 911 to report two hounds had attacked another dog, which needed treatment. The hounds were with two people on horseback. The animal control officer responded. One dog was taken to the vet. A report was pending.
Sunday, September 29
1:41 a.m. Police stopped a car on Route 2 at Old Road to Nine Acre Corner after a check on the registered owner indicated their license was revoked or suspended. Police cited the unlicensed driver, and the car was towed.
7:36 a.m. A staff member at Crosby’s Market on Sudbury Road reported a group of vandals were caught on surveillance camera smashing pumpkins and pouring windshield fluid out at the store the night before. Police responded.
9:29 a.m. A 911 caller reported a woman in her 20s was on the train tracks at Conant Street with a hula-hoop. The caller said they notified the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad, which said the next train was due in about an hour. The woman did not identify herself and left. When police arrived, she was on the sidewalk.
10:58 a.m. A cyclist requested to speak with an officer about a prior collision with a car. He told an officer he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle on Sudbury Road near Route 2 on September 25 and later went to urgent care for treatment for injuries. The bicycle was a total loss. Police retrieved insurance information from the driver.
Monday, September 30
2:02 a.m. A 36-year-old Boston man was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol after police stopped the car he was driving for speeding and marked-lane violations on Route 2 near the Concord rotary. The car was towed.
6:14 p.m. A Barretts Mill Road resident reported someone knocked on the door and rang the doorbell at their home between 1:30 and 2 a.m. the night before. The homeowner said their mother-in-law went downstairs to see what was happening and noticed a man running back toward the road. An officer checked with neighbors to see if nearby residences had cameras that may have captured footage of the incident.
