The Concord-Carlisle High School girls varsity hockey team began its season with a 6-1 loss to Lexington on December 12.
Eighth-grader Samantha Sibley scored the game’s first goal, firing a wrist shot into the net in the first period. In the third period, captain Addison Healy took a puck to the ankle and was taken off the ice.
Despite multiple glove saves and pad stops by senior goalie Crista Celi, the girls fell 6-1 to the Minutemen.
The girls then faced Lincoln-Sudbury in the annual Warriors 4 Warriors (W4W) charity game on December 14.
The girls fell 8-1, with Ava Thomas scoring late in the second period to break up the shutout. The girls were next scheduled to face Acton-Boxborough, Winchester, and Central Catholic.
