A potentially record-setting crowd gathered at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center for the fourth annual Chanukah Celebration sponsored by Kerem Shalom and the town.

The December 11 early celebration of the Festival of Lights featured interactive Chanukah songs, latkes, and goodie bags stuffed with surprises for young attendees.

This year marked the first time organizers held the festivities indoors. On a rainy, windswept night, the move paid immediate dividends.

“It was a wonderful opportunity,” said Rabbi Darby Leigh. “Nobody was too cold, and nobody was too wet. It was fantastic.”

The evening marked “maybe the biggest crowd we’ve ever had,” town tourism manager Beth Williams said.
