Della J. Perry, 93

Della J. Perry, 93, of Hingham, passed away on January 2, 2025, after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of 66 years of the late George S. Perry.

Della was born October 14, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Mary Grace Pratti. She grew up in Somerville and after graduating from Somerville High School, Della began her working career as a secretary with the John E. Cain and John Hancock companies. She began to date the love of her life, George. They spent many nights together dancing to the sounds of the big bands. They started their life together in 1953, first living in Cambridge before moving to Concord, where they resided for five decades.

Della and George were devoted to each other and to their large and loving family. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Della always put her family ahead of herself. Della was an active member of her church and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bernard’s Parish in Concord. After they finally retired, they moved to Dennis, where they could be close to the ocean and spend their twilight years together.

Della is survived by her sons Dr. George Jr. and his wife Laurie of Scituate; John and his wife Nancy of Groton; and Christopher and his wife Darlene of Dennis. Also, her grandchildren, George Perry III of Hingham, Jeffrey and his wife Kristen Perry of Carlsbad, California, Kristen and her husband Steven Altmann of Bolton, Andrea and her husband Michael Castano of New Market, New Hampshire, Melanie and her husband Marc Dupre of Manchester, New Hampshire, Alexander and his wife Suzanna Perry of North Andover, Alanna Perry and her fiancée Andrew Haddad of Boston, and Matthew Perry and his wife Holly of Andover; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother Henry and his wife Ruth Pratti of Pompano Beach and sister-in-law Christine Pratti of Andover and dozens of extended family. Della’s brother, John “Jack” Pratti, predeceased her.

Family and friends will gather for a period of visitation in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, on Wednesday, January 8, from 8:30 until 9:45 a.m.  Della’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord Center.  Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
