Concord-Carlisle High School girls basketball defeated Boston Latin, 53-45, riding May Isenberg’s 23 points and Ali Davagian’s double-double. The January 3 home opener victory raised the team’s record to 3-1 and 2-0 in Dual County League League play.

The Patriots held a 27-24 lead at halftime, and the defense staved off Boston Latin’s tenacious offense, which narrowed the margin to a single point several times in the second half.

Davagian finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Cam Bury and captain Teagan Morrissey each scored 8 points.

Shen out for season

The Patriots started the 2024-25 campaign with two big road wins but lost captain Addie Shen to a season-ending knee injury in a first-round victory over Boston Latin in the Bigelow Holiday Tournament in Winchester. Shen scored 12 points in the first half,  Isenberg sank 16, and Morrissey came up big with 13 points, including 9 in the second half, to hold off a potential Latin comeback.

In the final round, the Patriots took on Waltham without Shen and captain Jill Brennan and were down 26-13 at the half. Outstanding defense led the Patriots back in the second half as they cut the lead late in the fourth quarter to 34-29 but could get no closer. The final was 40-29, as the short-staffed Patriots suffered their first defeat.

Before her injury, Shen had paced CCHS with 24 points in the season opener, a 66-37 win over Cambridge. In that victory, Morrissey scored 12 points in the first half and Isenberg contributed 15, scoring both inside and out.
