The CC boys avenged last year’s late-season loss to North Andover with a commanding 4-0 win at home on January 8. Sam Griswold earned the shutout with 26 saves, and the team climbed to a 6-1-1 record.

Early in the first period, Sindri Salazar moved the puck up to Tommy McKenna, who took a wrist shot from the high slot that Declan Daley tipped in for his first varsity goal. The pressure continued with all four lines testing the Scarlet Knights on several offensive pushes. Near the end of the period, Henry Sullivan and Jack Pesce moved the puck up to Theo Price, whose wrister found the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.

The second period saw NA amping up its attack and CC responding with muscle, especially from Owen Moynihan and Oliver Erston. CC penalty killers Stoddard Healy, Trevor Bailey, Chris Bono, Erston, Moynihan, Joe Grasso, Chris Sim, and Will Steffens kept NA off the board. Griswold made a sprawling save followed by a quick blocker deflection.

With five minutes left in the period, Griswold stopped a breakaway and then immediately faced a 3-on-1 attack, which he turned aside with help from Erston. Just before the buzzer, Sim and Healy delivered the puck to Bono at the point, who shot through a sea of players to net the Pats’ third goal.

The third period was back and forth. Moynihan, Sim, and Bailey all played physically, moving bodies out of the way and getting the puck up to Alex Fivek, whose backhander was gloved down by the Scarlet Knights goalie. NA pulled its goaltender during a CC penalty, creating a 6-on-4 advantage for two minutes. The Pats stifled their opponents, and Grasso’s empty-netter sealed the 4-0 win.

The boys next face Acton-Boxborough on January 22.
