CC wrestler Miles Mattalliano pins for 99th win

The CCHS wrestling team saw senior captain Miles Mattalliano bring his varsity career win total to 99 last week in results from a meet against Westford High School on January 15 and a super quad meet on January 18. After winning the dual meet, the Patriots are 2-0 in Dual County League competition.

Match highlights included wins by pin by sophomore Penn Boger, sophomore Kyle Amouzgar, Mattaliano, junior Kian Haeffner, junior Tait Olsen, senior captain Eddie Myles, and junior Savoy Hightower. Freshman Jon Radovan made his varsity debut at 120 pounds and was winning in the third round before falling to his opponent.

The wrestlers were 2-2 in the super quad on January 18, winning against Holliston and Hopkinton while falling to Melrose and Arlington. Junior Ammar Bagasra went 3-1 on the day with two crucial wins by pin and a win on a tough decision against Holliston. Hightower delivered a key pin in the final seconds of his match against Holliston to tie the team score. Lucas was 2-2 on the day, and Boger and Amouzgar each went 3-1. Mattalliano pinned all three opponents and senior captain Eddie Myles beat all four of his foes with dominant first-round pins.

In its first DCL dual meet of the season, the Concord-Carlisle High School wrestling team topped rival Boston Latin, 43-27, on January 8, putting the Patriots 6-6 on the season. 

Senior captain Miles Mattaliano, Kyle Amouzgar, Kian Haeffner, and Jonathan Lucas notched victories by pin, as did heavyweight Savoy Hightower, whose win sealed the team triumph.

Sophomore Penn Boger won by tech fall, and Ridha Al Thuwaini delivered a hard-fought major decision.

At a quad meet at Easton last Saturday, CCHS was 2-1 as a team, beating Somerset-Berkley, 39-31, and Oliver Ames, 51-30, but losing to Hingham, 44-34. 

Leading the Patriots with three-pin days were Amouzgar, Hightower, freshman Max Bell, and senior captain Eddie Myles. Mattaliano had two pins and three wins overall, and Lucas went 2-1, with a pin.
