Alexa Anderson seeks School Committee re-election

January 24, 2025

I am honored to announce my candidacy for re-election to the School Committee, a role I approach with gratitude and dedication. My husband and I grew up in Concord. Both parents and all of our siblings and their families live here. This community is vitally important to three living generations of our families.

As an alumna of Concord Public Schools, I deeply value the exceptional academics and extracurricular opportunities our schools provide. My sole agenda is to ensure this experience remains accessible to all students in Concord, Boston, and Carlisle.

As chair of the Concord School Committee from 2022 to 2024, I provided stable leadership, earning the respect of diverse committee members and the trust of our superintendent. Under her leadership, we have prioritized student success and sense of belonging, while keeping budget increases well below those of her predecessor.

If re-elected, I will become the senior committee member and the only one with extensive contract negotiation experience, including successfully securing a fair but fiscally prudent teachers contract this spring while neighboring communities faced strikes and exorbitant contractual increases. I advocate fiercely for students while being mindful of taxpayers, as demonstrated by this year’s budgets meeting Finance Committee guidelines.

Looking ahead, I am committed to:

  • Advancing budgets that are both an authentic expression of our strategic plan and fiscally responsible, emphasizing the need to avoid overrides prevalent in neighboring communities.
  • Promoting dignity and respect for students, staff, and families, fostering a school community we can be proud of.
  • Balancing academic rigor with student wellness.
  • Facilitating collaboration among Concord’s governing bodies to create enduring processes and a shared vision.

My institutional knowledge and strong relationships with school administrators, PTGs, union leadership, and town officials will ensure stability and continuity as we pass the baton to the next generation of leaders.
