A two-alarm blaze badly damaged a Cottage Lane home late Thursday night, the Concord Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded to 36 Cottage Lane shortly before 11:30 p.m. and found heavy fire throughout the house, according to the fire department’s accounting of events. There were no reported injuries.
Assistant fire chief Brian Whitney told The Concord Bridge that the fire displaced one person.

CFD said firefighters attacked the flames from multiple angles and spent close to two hours battling the flames. Frigid weather “made for a challenging situation,” according to Whitney.
Concord police, in social media posts, urged drivers to avoid the area while crews remained on scene. Authorities closed part of nearby Main Street, reopening it around 5:30 a.m.

By 8:30 a.m., the scene had quieted and Cottage Lane had also reopened to traffic.
One Concord fire truck and a handful of firefighters still monitored the charred house.

Firefighters from Acton, Bedford, Lexington, Lincoln, Sudbury, and Wayland supported Concord crews on Cottage Lane overnight. Hanscom Air Force Base and Boxborough personnel provided station coverage.
The fire was under investigation by the Concord Fire Department and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit as of Friday morning.
The incident preceded an unrelated false alarm at Thoreau School Friday.
