When you look up “Alexa” in the dictionary, the first entry is the feminine derivation of the name Alexander, which means “to defend.” The Hebrew translation is “the protector of man.”
The second entry addresses the Amazon AI assistant tasked with patiently providing knowledgeable answers and guidance to all manner of queries. Amazon chose “Alexa” because it is reminiscent of the Library of Alexandria, “the vital center of learning in the ancient world, a place where philosophers, scholars and scientists could study and share ideas.”
Alexa Anderson could not have been more aptly named. She embodies all of the above.
Whip-smart, fearless, and diplomatic, Alexa has fulfilled her promise to Concordians during her tenure on the School Committee. She consistently exhibits her unwavering passion, leadership, and deep-rooted commitment to our town and our schools.
Alexa and I first worked together while fundraising for Milldam Nursery School’s 50th celebration. She initiated and steered our endeavor towards the donation to the Concord Free Public Library of the commissioned sculpture Millie, by world-renowned artist Nancy Schön. We again collaborated as Willard Parent Teacher Group board members and, finally, while I served on the middle school PTG board and she on the School Committee. In each position, she has led with insightfulness and diligence. Continuously graceful under pressure and laser-focused on advocating for our public school’s success, she always provides knowledgeable solutions and guidance. As a lifelong resident of Concord, a CPS graduate, and parent of three CPS students, she is qualified and informed.
Alexa fosters cooperative relationships, utilizing her strong communication skills and her willingness to listen. She is the defender and protector of the public education system Concord so proudly has created. As a fellow CPS parent, I trust Alexa to guide our School Committee, and I confidently support her re-election.
