The boys were scoreless in the first period of the January 25 game against North Andover, which quickly notched four goals. Halfway through the second period, Ryan Scafidi took a pass at the right blue line, raced past a defender and clanged the puck off the left post and into the net. CC narrowed the gap to 4-2 with four minutes left in the second, but North Andover regained momentum early in the third period, scoring one goal and nearly scoring another before Ryan Terry cleared the puck just before it crossed the goal line.

CC scored again before the buzzer, but fell 5-3.

Bennet Layton scored a hat trick against Lexington on January 26, first knocking in a rebound less than 20 seconds into the game. With the game tied 1-1, Layton scored again on a rebound from a shot by Jake Erston. His last goal was an empty-netter from his own defensive zone. Lexington tightened the game with a goal with 36 seconds left, but goalie Will Richardson and the CC defense turned away Lexington’s final flurry to preserve the 3-2 victory.

CC vs. Waltham

CC and Waltham traded goals and leads in their January 27 game. CC scored two goals in the first period — Erston got the first with assists from Calvin Alexander and Wes Morse, then Morse got the second on a precise pass from Fisher Tibbett. Jake Jones skated past multiple defenders and fired the puck into the net to tie the game at 3-3. In the middle of the third period, Morse broke the tie, scoring on a pass from Cam McWalter to give CC a 4-3 lead, and the win.
