CCHS girls swim and dive their way to an MIAA three-peat

The Concord-Carlisle High School girls swimming and diving team won its third consecutive MIAA North Sectionals title on February 8. Fourteen swimmers scored 338.5 points overall, beating out their nearest rival, Weston, by 79 points.

The girls team had four first-place finishes, including Bea Turrettini in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events, Elisabeth Reiling, who set a school record in the 100-yard butterfly, and Maisey O’Donnell in the 1-meter diving competition. All three relay teams finished in the top three. (Third place in 200-yard medley: Phoebe Renyi, Sarah Fortier, Elizabeth Reiling, Reese Phillips; second place in 200-yard freestyle relay: Bea Turrettini, Allison Lu, Hana Baldini, Reese Phillips; second place in 400-yard freestyle relay: Bea Turrettini, Hana Baldini, Sarah Nadzo, Elizabeth Reiling.)

The boys team placed sixth overall at the North Sectionals meet on February 9. Thomas Stone clinched first place in the 1-meter diving competition. Additional highlights included a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley (Brandon Monaghan, Emlen Lease, Cole Scafidi, and Andrew Hodges). Cole Scafidi placed sixth in the 500-yard freestyle, Emlen Lease placed seventh in the 200-yard individual medley, and the 400-yard free relay team shed time to score fifth place (Andrew Hodges, Brandon Monaghan, Presley Rodgers, Cole Scafidi).

The combined team seeks to secure its second Division 1 State Championship this weekend at Boston University. The girls will swim Saturday, and the boys will swim Sunday.
