Concord Police log highlights: January 29-February 4, 2025

Wednesday, January 29

10:10 a.m. A Concord Free Public Library vehicle ran a red light near Main and Cottage Streets and struck another car. There were no injuries, and the driver was cited. 

12:22 p.m. A Concord Academy caller said a Ford pickup lost two bags of hockey equipment at their main gate. The caller retrieved the bags and waited for an officer to get them. Police contacted the owner to pick up the equipment at the station. 

3:15 p.m. A Central Street caller reported three women going door to door, asking if people wanted to go to church with them. The caller worried it might be a scam to trick elderly residents into donating money. Police did not find the women.

Thursday, January 30

10:38 a.m.  A Coburn Hill Road resident reported he saw two men on his Ring camera who walked up to his home and had not seen them leave. Police went to the home but found no intruder, nor any footprints in the snow. 

3:12 p.m. A caller reported a license plate in the middle of the intersection of Old Marlboro Road and ORNAC. Police retrieved the license plate, which was damaged and illegible, and put it in the plate destruction bin. 

5:16 p.m. A Sudbury Road caller said he was walking in the CVS parking lot when a car almost hit him and then parked in a no-parking zone. The caller asked to speak to an officer but was no longer in the parking lot when police arrived. 

7:26 p.m. A Main Street caller reported a suspicious email from Bitcoin, which said she had to comply with instructions or someone would be sent to her house. Police determined there was no crime and documented the incident. 

8:35 p.m. A Sudbury Road caller reported a suspicious person walking around the property. Police responded and found it was someone looking at work being done on the house. The caller was advised to call back if the party returned. 

8:57 p.m. Police attempted to stop a car on Sudbury Road approaching Fitchburg Turnpike. When the driver stopped, she said she hadn’t seen the police lights. The driver was cited for speeding. 

Friday, January 31

3:24 p.m. Police found the train gates at Belknap Street were malfunctioning on the inbound Thoreau Street side. Belknap Street was shut down until the issue was resolved. 

9:28 p.m. A power outage was reported at Old Pickard and Powder Mill Roads. Concord Municipal Light Plant was paged and responded. 

Saturday, February 1

11:49 a.m. A Baker Avenue caller reported a shepherd/collie mix shivering outside a building. Animal control was notified. 

12:31 p.m. A caller reported she struck a post on Walden Street near Walden Pond at 6 a.m. that morning. Police checked Walden Street to the Lincoln line and found no damage. Lincoln police were notified as well. 

2:02 p.m. An Alcott School staff member asked police to notify the owner of a car in the lot to move it for snow removal. Police left a message. 

4:41 p.m. A Main Street caller reported a dog tied to a pole outside The Concord Bookshop, saying the dog appeared to be cold and was repeatedly lifting its paws. The dog was gone when police arrived. 

7:35 p.m. A Bartlett Hill Road resident reported an apparently injured raccoon near their home. Police located the raccoon on the trail behind the house. 

Sunday, February 2

12:07 a.m. Police checked on a van parked behind the bank on Main Street. The van belonged to Pro-Tech, and the driver moved it to a more suitable location. 

4:29 a.m. A walk-in complainant reported a wrong-way driver on Route 2, driving east in the westbound lane from Crosby’s Corner into Lincoln. Police notified Lincoln and state police. Lincoln police stopped the vehicle on Route 2 at I-95 in Lexington. 

6:38 a.m. A caller reported the railroad gates at Conant Street were malfunctioning. The arm closest to Main Street was down. Police assisted with traffic until a maintenance crew fixed the issue. 

9:17 a.m. A 911 call from an Apple watch indicated a fall on Stow Street. Police could hear what sounded like a basketball game, but no obvious sounds of an emergency. Police responded and confirmed it was an accidental call. 

10:13 a.m. A Buttricks Hill Drive resident reported seeing a white box truck on his home video camera. He saw two men exit the truck and walk around, and he said he was not expecting a delivery. Police responded and found it was a delivery van that had broken down. A tow was on the way. 

12:29 p.m. A Keyes Road resident came to the station to report a TSA issue due to someone with the same name and date of birth. Police are investigating. 

1:18 p.m. A Partridge Lane resident reported a man knocked on his door and stated he was a private investigator. When the caller said he was contacting the police, the man ran to get into his vehicle. The private investigator later called police to identify himself. 

4:16 p.m. A Conant Street resident reported an apparently sick or injured opossum on a trail behind his house. ACO was notified. 

7:24 p.m. A Woodland Road resident reported an Amazon truck stuck on the ice at the bottom of his driveway and said the driver refused to call a tow company or his supervisor. Police responded, and the driver called for a tow. 

7:30 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on Lexington Road by Old Bedford Road. Police responded, stopped the car near Concord Lumber, and issued a warning. 

8:55 p.m. A Wright Road resident said he noticed fresh footprints in the snow around his home. Police found the home secure and advised him to call back if he noticed anything further. 

9:12 p.m. A Spencer Brook Road resident complained of an ongoing issue of an industrial-size pump, which was loud enough to wake them up. Police located a septic truck pumping; the driver said he would be finished shortly. 

Monday, February 3

4:47 a.m. The Concord Public Works Department reported a vehicle parked in the Conant Street lot for Rideout Field, impeding snow removal. Police contacted the owner, who planned to move the car. 

11:49 a.m. A driver reported a man with a long beard riding a moped making obscene gestures at her and other motorists near Thoreau Street and Sudbury Road. Police responded, but the person was gone when they got there. 

12:57 p.m. A walk-in complainant reported possible identity fraud; when they tried to file their taxes, H&R Block told them an “unknown party in the town of Concord” had already filed returns using their Social Security number. Police will follow up. 

10:24 p.m. Police checked on a car parked in the TD Bank lot. The owner was a cleaner. 

Tuesday, February 4

2:46 a.m. Police checked on a car on Commonwealth Avenue, parked in the lot next to the prison. The car was unoccupied. 

7:22 a.m. Police found and removed a package in the road at Baker Avenue and Main Street. 

9:04 a.m. An Emerson Hospital staff member reported she had found damage to her car when she left work the day before. Police made a report. 

10:18 a.m. Personal items and footprints were found near the water at the Lowell Street boat ramp. Police believed it was a person fishing on the riverbank. 

12:25 p.m. Police found a car blocking the entrance to a Main Street parking lot. The owner was contacted and was going to move the car. 

8:58 p.m. The cemetery department requested an officer be sent to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery to stand by while a propane tank was repaired. Police responded.
