Michael Williams will contribute ‘invaluable, necessary perspective’

February 21, 2025

My first introduction to the Williams family was through Clary, Michael’s wife, when we both volunteered for the all-night senior graduation party at CCHS more than 20 years ago. Service and giving back still remain very important to their family, as it did in the earlier days. Dr. Williams has recently retired from a highly successful, rewarding, and demanding career, and rather than only pursuing his keen interest in bees and birding, he is choosing to devote time and energy to supporting our schools.

I’ve had the pleasure of working on projects with Michael for two years and believe he will be an outstanding addition to our school community. Michael isn’t afraid to have difficult conversations, something inevitable when discussing students, budgets, and equity. His curiosity makes him an exceptional listener, and when he responds, you know you have been heard. This real respect for others enables him to work towards consensus and collaboration within groups. Dr. Williams had a career requiring reading and analyzing data. This skill set will be beneficial when in-depth analysis of data for everything from student mental health and academic success to budgetary decisions is required.

I know Michael’s and his family’s lived experiences in Concord will add an invaluable and necessary perspective for our school community, something many of us don’t have. Dr. Williams recognizes the importance of fiscal responsibility and balancing the needs of all our residents. He would love to see senior citizens be able to remain in Concord as well as young people, like his own children, be able to afford Concord.

Please join me in voting for Dr. Michael Williams for School Committee — a compassionate, insightful man who wants to support Concord in becoming even better.
