‘Proven, accomplished’ Mary Hartman deserves to be re-elected to Select Board

February 21, 2025

A vote for Mary Hartman for Select Board is a vote to re-elect a proven, accomplished leader who is a decision-maker and advocates for actions to better the lives of Concord residents.

Mary’s goals are prudent fiscal policy/tax rates, transparency and collaboration, and thoughtful planning for future infrastructure needs facing the town.

Mary brought together the Select Board, School Committee, and Finance Committee to frame long-term capital requirements in a series of public meetings. Improved efficiency between town and public schools’ joint operations is now being discussed. Mary supports well thought-out commercial development to reduce reliance on residential property taxes and add to Concord’s reputation as a great place to live, learn, work and play. Mary guided the Select Board’s creation of a policy to negotiate with tax-exempt organizations to pay a portion of the cost of services provided to them by the town.

Mary supports transparency across town government. She seeks community input, has updated the Select Board’s correspondence policy, opened the Chairs’ Breakfast to Zoom, supports hybrid meetings for the convenience of residents, and encourages prompt posting of meeting recordings and minutes.

Mary advocated for Concord during MCI-Concord’s closing, appointed a resident-led advisory board to ensure the town was well represented, and is working with state agencies to negotiate the transfer of badly needed wastewater capacity to the town. Mary supports the development of the town’s matrix process to consider reuse of MCI-Concord, 2229 Main Street, and Peabody School.  And Mary has asked for an accounting of future infrastructure needs — public safety; streets/sidewalks/bike lanes; waste/stormwater treatment — to plan together for Concord’s future.

Mary’s goal is to deliver the best for our town. Please re-elect Mary Hartman for Select Board.
