Select Board in need of Joe Laurin’s ‘dedication, intelligence, compassion’

February 21, 2025

We are writing to express our wholehearted endorsement of Joe Laurin for the Concord Select Board. As friends of Joe and his family for 15 years and as fellow longtime members of the Concord community, we have had the privilege of witnessing Joe’s dedication, intelligence, and compassion firsthand.

From our shared experiences with youth soccer and Cub Scouts with our sons, we have seen Joe’s unwavering commitment to supporting kids in our town and ensuring that Concord remains a nurturing environment for families. His caring nature extends beyond his immediate circle to his active involvement in local charities and educational initiatives, such as the Scholarship Fund of Concord & Carlisle, Kicks for Cancer, and the CCHS football program.

We’d like to share an anecdote from when Joe and John coached soccer together: Joe became known to all of the parents on the sidelines as the “spreadsheet coach.” At each game our team played, Joe had a spreadsheet to help with player substitutions, ensuring each child got fair playing time as well as a chance to try different positions. Magically, Joe was able to rotate the players so we were able to play to our strengths and have many fun, organized, and winning seasons together. This kind of analytical approach, along with fairness and practicality, will serve our town well, as we address pressing issues like balancing and maintaining top-quality schools, while also ensuring Concord is an affordable place to live.

We hope you will join us in supporting Joe for the Select Board.
