Thanks, first responders — and kind bystander

February 21, 2025

One of the great things about living in Concord is that it really is a community. We experience it in many ways, sometimes under less than anticipated circumstances. I recently witnessed it firsthand after heading out to enjoy a skate on Nick Macone Pond (thanks to caretaker Jason Andrews) only to take an unwelcome fall and require assistance.

Almost immediately, Concordian Dick Driscoll was by my side, helping, including keeping a sense of humor and calling public safety to aid in getting me off the ice. Concord fire, rescue, and police could not have been better in their rapid, effective, and friendly response.

A big “thank you” to Dick for not hesitating to help someone in need and to our Concord professionals for being the best at what they do, even for a minor incident like this. You are all reminders of what makes our town such a special place.

With gratitude, if not great balance,
