CCHS Nordic ski post season continues with third in states, first in Eastern Mass

Concord-Carlisle High School’s Nordic ski teams were first among all eastern Massachusetts at states on February 11. The boys finished third overall with 68 points behind winner Mount Greylock (34) and runner-up Waconah (55).

Adam Synnestvedt and Zach Scopinich-Burgel earned medals, finishing in eighth and 10th, respectively. Also scoring were Roman Lin in 16th and Tyler Abrams in 34th. Evan Hultgren, Reid Purwin, Beckett Johnson, and Henry Gaasch also competed in their first states race. 

Five CC girls skied a challenging 8-kilometer course: Ellie Schmidt, Catherine Richardson,Phoebe Richardson, Esma Dirrane, and Marina Grein.

“I am excited to be coaching such a strong program in my first season in the MIAA,” head coach Marika Massey-Bierman said.“Our boys team had one of their best races at states, and I think they will be a serious contender in next year’s tournament. I am proud of our girls team for their dedication to learning and improving this season. Several girls on our states team are first-year skiers who have greatly improved.”

The post-season continues with Synnestvedt, Scopinich-Burgel, and Abrams competing next month in the Eastern High School Championships. Lin qualified as an alternate.
