The Concord-Carlisle High School boys junior varsity hockey team finished its season last weekend with a 3-5-2 record, after losing to both Westford Academy in the final regular season game, and Lincoln-Sudbury in the playoffs. The 4-1 loss against Westford was more competitive than the final

score suggests. CC defensemen James Jenney, Del Colabrio, Brendan Leonardo, and Evryn Saunders turned away multiple Westford attacks, and goalies Will Richardson and Max Furman combined for 31 saves. The game was scoreless until the final few minutes, when Westford took advantage of a shorthanded and tiring CC defense and scored twice. With two minutes left, Wes Morse put in a rebound on a shot by Jake Erston to cut the lead to 2-1, but Westford scored two empty net goals in the final minute to win 4-1.

This left the Patriots tied for the fourth and final playoff spot with the Nashoba Wolves. CC qualified over Nashoba for the playoffs, having beaten the Wolves during their regular season games.

CCHS took on  undefeated Lincoln-Sudbury and played a spirited game. On offense, Calvin Alexander, Silas Harmon, Bennett Layton, Wes Morse, and Nate Price created opportunities in the first period, and goalies Will Kehoe and Will Richardson turned away 23 shots on the day.

Six minutes into the second period, LS’s Bryce Babikian broke the tie to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead, firing in a rebound from the back post. Seconds later, he scored again to give LS a 2-0 lead. Though the Pats continued working, they could not put the puck past LS’ goalie George Comer and lost 3-0.
