We write as parents of two young children at Willard in wholehearted support of Dr. Michael Williams for the Concord School Committee. Our family’s Concord school experience has been wonderful, but as we learn how our schools address all students’ needs, we’ve found areas needing attention.
Dr. Williams is a physician and longtime resident. During his children’s school experience, he saw them face real challenges in feeling fully welcome. It’s troubling that this continues today.
What strikes us most is his dedication to asking hard questions. He has attended meetings and gathered stories from across Concord, recognizing a pattern. In too many areas — transparency about how to support underrepresented students and refugee families, or ensuring parents have a voice — nobody asks “why” or “how can we do better?” Dr. Williams believes these questions matter. He knows they can spark improvements for every child. We admire his compassion, dedication, and forward-thinking approach.
Retired with grown children, Dr. Williams can focus fully on all children’s welfare. He brings the benefit of perspective and the freedom of focus. He understands what truly matters once students graduate and is prepared to delve deeply into School Committee responsibilities. For many families juggling homework and bedtime, knowing a committee member is committed to thoughtful inquiry and responsive leadership for all our children’s welfare is a relief. We need someone who will seek clarity on big decisions, invite input, and champion all Concord students.
Our town has a proud history of fighting for justice and reaffirming shared values. We can’t rest on that reputation alone. By electing Dr. Williams, we will gain a committee member determined to listen and work proactively for families like ours — and yours. He’s ready to shine a light on challenges and collaborate on real, constructive solutions. We hope you’ll support him on election day.
