Powerful gusts took down trees and knocked out power around Concord on Friday as a windstorm swept across New England.
Monument Street was closed between Monument Square and Liberty Street shortly before 1 p.m. after a large branch fell across the road near Minute Man National Historical Park. Though the road soon reopened, cars rattled over debris, and logs blocked the sidewalk.

Trees and branches fell on properties elsewhere in town. One snapped tree lay across Estabrook Road around 1:30 p.m.
The Concord Municipal Light Plant’s outage map reported four power outages impacting one customer each as of around 1:45 p.m. The longest outage had been ongoing since around 8:30 a.m. The other outages were reported shortly after 12 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory across most of New York and New England on Friday morning and projected peak wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph in the Concord area.
The NWS said the wind threat would continue until sundown.
