Concord Police log highlights: March 5-11, 2025

Wednesday, March 5

6:40 a.m. Police received a call from a security company about a burglar alarm activated at a house on Emerson Road. Two police cars responded and determined it was set off by the homeowner’s parents, who were housesitting.

8:51 p.m. A Hill Street caller told police they’d heard a loud boom and that the street did not have power. A first responder said it appeared that half of Hill Street lost power from a blown fuse on a pole near Hill Street and Hillside Avenue. A Summit Street resident also reported losing power. Concord Municipal Light Plant was notified and responded.  

Thursday, March 6 

12:12 p.m. A Finigan Way resident said two dogs were running around her neighborhood. She caught one, a golden retriever. Police responded and returned the dog to its owner. The animal control officer was notified. 

4:26 p.m. A Monument Street resident said a possibly rabid raccoon was trying to get into his house. ACO was advised and handled the incident. 

Friday, March 7 

10:58 a.m. A caller said a tree was blocking Monument Street. A responding officer said the road was impassable. CPW responded and coned off the area. 

11:20 a.m. Police received a 911 call about a downed tree blocking Elm Street. Police responded; the road was later reopened. 

11:26 a.m. Central Station reported that an alarm was activated on the sliding kitchen door of a Lowell Road home. Police said the dog walker accidentally set it off. 

12:20 p.m. Police received a 911 call about a tree blocking Monument Street. CPW was notified, and police temporarily closed Monument Street to Liberty Street.  

1:56 p.m. CPW told police about a dead tree that was hanging over Walden Road and might fall. They asked the police to close the street between Thoreau and Heywood. Workers removed the tree, and the road reopened. 

3:13 p.m. Police received multiple 911 calls about a tree across Lowell Road. Police shut down outbound traffic at Barretts Mill Road and detoured Lowell to Westford Road. The Highway Department responded; the road was later reopened. 

5:19 p.m. ADT reported a burglar alarm at a home on Rollingwood Lane. Police said the pet sitter had accidentally set it off. 

9:04 p.m. Police checked on a disabled vehicle on Route 2 near Main Street. When the officer spoke with the driver, he said he pulled to the side of the road to rest. Police advised him to move off the highway. 

9:07 p.m. Police spoke with the driver of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection of Route 2 and ORNAC. The driver said they were confused trying to get onto ORNAC from Route 2. 

Saturday, March 8

10:04 a.m. A Bedford Street resident reported their dog escaped and they couldn’t find him. The caller later said the dog was found.

10:07 a.m. A caller reported a tree branch was leaning on a power line near Peabody School. CMLP removed it. 

10:16 a.m. A driver reported someone was hanging a sign on the Lowell Road bridge. Police responded but saw no sign.  

10:48 a.m. An officer pulled over a vehicle on Thoreau Street and cited the driver for unlicensed operation and no inspection. 

4:45 p.m. American Alarms reported a commercial burglar alarm was activated on Keyes Road. Police reported the front doors were open, but there was no access inside the building. 

6:11 p.m. Police received a call from Sirius XM about a two-vehicle crash on Route 2 near Walden Street. State police reported one driver was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The second driver fled on foot. The State Police K-9 Unit helped search for the driver but was unable to locate them. The crash remains under investigation. 

7:27 p.m. An employee at a business on Main Street told police that two men tried to open the locked door. The employee flickered the lights at his workstation, and the pair left. Police responded and checked the perimeter. 

Sunday, March 9 

1:11 a.m. Police arrested a 22-year-old Maynard woman on charges of operating under the influence of marijuana and a marked-lane violation after pulling her over on Route 2 near ORNAC.

2:04 p.m. A driver near the intersection of Route 2 and Main Street called 911 to report another driver braking sharply and changing lanes without signaling. Police responded and advised the driver about the complaint. The driver said the caller had been tailgating him. 

8:10 p.m. A person walked into the Police Department and reported a lost dog near Cambridge Turnpike and Mildred Circle. ACO found the dog, which the owner picked up. 

Monday, March 10

1:43 p.m. A man at Alltown Mobil called 911 and said he did not like the way the vehicle he purchased was performing. Police gave the caller advice with the help of an interpreter. 

4:52 p.m. An Oxbow Road resident called 911 to report that when she arrived home, there was an unfamiliar vehicle parked in her driveway. She said her home was unsecured, but she did not see anyone walking around outside or any movement inside. Police learned the vehicle was a rental that was dropped off at the wrong house. Police searched her home and said it was OK.

10:27 p.m. A Spencer Brook Road resident reported a loud noise on Lowell Road and Westford Road. Police said it appeared to be a pump running in the Middlesex School maintenance building. 

Tuesday, March 11

7:46 a.m. Police responded to an alarm on Lowell Road. Officers said maintenance staff  accidentally set it off. 

3:24 p.m. Police received a 911 call from a witness that a vehicle struck multiple parked cars near Commonwealth Avenue. Police shut down Commonwealth at Church and Main Streets. One vehicle was towed, and the driver was cited for failing to use care. Police said there were no reported injuries.
