A vote for Mary Hartman for Select Board is for us a slam dunk. She’s been doing the job with remarkable competence for three years, the last of which as chair. Why would one choose to hire a rookie if you can hire an experienced executive?
Tom first met Mary when they overlapped on the Finance Committee, where Mary showed a notable capacity for hard work, digesting the copious amounts of data presented and preparing insightful questions for the leaders of town departments. As chair of the Select Board, Mary displays the same organization and disciplined leadership she exhibited as chair of the Finance Committee.
Given the complexities of municipal finance, serving two terms on the Finance Committee should be a prerequisite for service on the Select Board. In addition to her FinCom service, Mary’s background in corporate finance and years as a senior lecturer in corporate finance at Bentley University make her uniquely equipped to interpret town budget documents and set the record straight on spending.
Her dedication, hard work, and intelligence are evident. Mary Hartman has our full support for re-election to the Select Board.
