As a close friend of Alexa Anderson’s, I want to share why I’m so proud to support her for re-election to the Concord School Committee.
Anyone who knows Alexa knows her relentless optimism and her unwavering belief in the power of community. But what many may not see is that behind that positive spirit is a deep sensitivity. The personal attacks on her character and independence in this election have been painful — she would never say that, because she tries to be strong. Not just for herself, but for her children, her parents, her in-laws, and her siblings — all of whom live here in Concord. This is her community. She carries it on her shoulders.
Alexa is a staunch advocate for students. That’s all she’s ever been. She doesn’t play political games or fall in line with groupthink. She’s independent, thoughtful, and committed to what’s best for kids — even when it’s hard, even when she’s attacked for it. And remarkably, she remains friendly, respectful, and collaborative with people who’ve maligned her. That takes real strength.
When there are problems, Alexa doesn’t deflect — she faces them head-on and works to fix them. Look at the work the district has done this year on the CMS math curriculum. After a concerning trend in MCAS math scores, the School Committee — under Alexa’s leadership — highlighted the issue and worked closely with administrators to ensure new curriculum funding was prioritized in the budget. That’s how real change happens: by being honest, working together, and acting quickly.
Alexa’s strength, optimism, and genuine spirit are exactly what communities need right now. She’s not doing this for herself — she’s doing it for all of us. I see that up close, and I hope you will too. Please join me in voting for Alexa Anderson.
