Looking forward, our Select Board will face complex issues in the coming years, e.g. sewage and water infrastructure, robust cell phone coverage, how to convert MCI and 2229 Main Street to town service, and how to limit Hanscom Field expansion. We must also consider how to add more affordable housing, preserve our diminishing canopy of shade trees, plan adequate provisions for public works, and hopefully encourage village life, art, music, and food to sustain the unique character of Concord.
Among the four qualified candidates seeking Select Board service, I plan to vote for Paul Boehm, whose training in the business of environmental science combined with his exemplary service on town committees demonstrates a highly ethical, rigorously focused, thoughtful, open-minded, and disciplined approach to problem solving. The uncertainties imposed by certain climate change and federal disengagement suggest we need very smart people overseeing Concord’s problems. Paul Boehm is the smart choice.
