In Mary Hartman, Concord is fortunate to have the rare candidate who asks the right questions and really listens before she acts. This is why I have confidence in the positions she takes. Mary Hartman has earned my vote for the Select Board.
Mary is respectful, articulate, inquisitive, and immensely intelligent. We can’t all delve as deeply as Mary into the myriad issues facing Concord, but we can be confident that she understands the nuances and has listened to the relevant opinions before taking thoughtful, decisive action. I have watched Mary serve the town on the Select Board and Finance Committee. Mary does not carry preconceived agendas into the room. Nor does she avoid tough problems or inconvenient truths. Before she acts, Mary asks the right questions every time. She is one of the best listeners I know. Mary respects others’ opinions and actively seeks out differing views to be sure she isn’t missing something important. As a result, Mary understands the views of others and often can articulate them better than they can themselves.
Mary approaches each person with respect and every issue with an open mind. And then, Mary acts confidently and decisively. That is why our community can be confident in her leadership.
The most important part of problem solving is knowing what questions to ask. The most important trait of a leader is to listen. That’s why Mary has earned my vote, and why I recommend that you vote to return Mary Hartman to the Select Board.
