Mary Hartman has a vision for Concord and an understanding of how to build that future.
Effective policy-making requires more than decrying the establishment. Progress requires that people like Select Board members take the time to understand how our policies and budgets work and what the obstacles are that stand in the way of moving forward. It requires that such leaders ask questions and seek collaboration and that they don’t claim to have all the answers but will work hard to find them.
I’m voting for Mary Hartman for Select Board because she exemplifies this progress. Her experience as a finance manager in the tech industry, as a teacher of finance, as a member of the Finance Committee, and now as a member of the Select Board shows us that she understands policies and budgets and has the patience to work with committees, staff, residents, and business leaders to move Concord forward in its goals for smart development, sustainability, and a future for people in all stages of life and income levels.
Being a Select Board member requires active participation as a liaison for other committees in order to support our collective goals. As chair of the Select Board, Mary demonstrated her commitment to this work when she brought the School Committee, Finance Committee, and town staff together for joint, public meetings to work out budgets that follow FinCom guidelines. Together they worked on 10-year capital plans that prioritize long underfunded infrastructure projects which are crucial to the growth Concord expects to facilitate in the coming years.
Concord needs Mary’s energy and commitment for another term to keep this progress on track. Join me in voting for a productive future for Concord.
