In the March 14 edition of The Concord Bridge, a letter to the editor incorrectly asserts there will be an absence of veterans in the parade planned for April 19. To the contrary, there is and will continue to be up till April 18 an open invitation to all local veterans to participate in this year’s Patriots’ Day parade. Our volunteer parade committee has been in touch previously with the town’s veteran agent, and there are several military groups and figures already slated to march on April 19. This includes the Massachusetts Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Massachusetts VFW Women’s Veteran Alliance.
This year, the parade marshal is Navy Capt. Thomas Kelley, a decorated veteran, and a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. There are also several senior military officials — including a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff — and veterans participating in the parade. We urge other Concord veterans who are interested in marching to connect with the Concord 250 parade committee as soon as possible by emailing [email protected].
