Francis (Frank) Michael Gannon, 87
Francis (Frank) Michael Gannon, age 87, of Concord, passed away March 28, 2025, after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Carol Sachs Gannon, his wife of over 63 years, and the dedicated father of Pamela Gannon and her husband David Douglas, Janine Gannon, and Jonathan Gannon and his wife Anne Noel Occhialino. Frank was the loving grandfather of Madison Douglas, Cameron Douglas and his wife Annika Rollock, Halley Douglas, Kate Gannon, and Nora Gannon.
Born March 10, 1938, in New York City to Frances (Trupper) and James Gannon, Frank grew up on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. After graduating from Fordham Preparatory School, he earned a bachelor’s in economics from Fordham University and an MBA in international trade from Bernard Baruch College. Frank participated in ROTC during his college years and served proudly in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Frank had a distinguished 35-year career in international trade, specializing in raw materials, particularly antimony. His career included time at Metal Traders Inc. and Brandeis Goldschmidt. Frank traveled widely for business in Europe, Asia, and South America, and he often brought back unique souvenirs, such as ponchos from Peru, Christmas ornaments, and the latest Andrew Lloyd Webber musical records.
The center of Frank’s life was his wife, Carol, and his children and grandchildren. He and Carol spent over 40 years at their summer home in Montauk, New York, and many winters in Puerto Rico. Frank loved the beach — whether he was swimming, reading a book, or enjoying beach parties with family and friends. Frank gathered sand from every beach he visited, amassing a collection of more than 30 different sands from around the world.
In retirement, Frank and Carol continued to explore the world, riding camels in Egypt, going on safari in Africa, and traveling on the Ganges River in India. Frank loved spending time with his grandchildren and seeing them in action — on a hockey rink, a softball field, or the Charles River — and he attended every graduation, sacrament, and family milestone. Nothing delighted everyone more than when Frank got into storytelling mode.
Frank made friends wherever he went. With his outgoing nature, genuine interest in people, and thoughtful character, he had a special way of making connections, whether in Dobbs Ferry, New York, where he and Carol raised their family; in Montauk; or in their most recent community of Concord.
Frank was predeceased by his brother James, and his twin sister Frances.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, on Wednesday, April 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. Frank’s funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square. A private burial will be held at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
Concord’s town flag will fly at half-staff on April 3 in honor of Frank’s military service.
