Local a cappella groups will use their voices as instruments when they converge on Concord to present a musical program benefitting Emerson Health’s Behavioral and Mental Health patients.

The seventh annual EmerSong A Cappella Festival will feature high school, college, and adult a cappella groups in shows to be held Saturday, April 5, at 3 and 7:30 p.m.

Participants include Harvard University’s Krokodileos, Northeastern University’s Nor-easters, Brandeis University’s Up the Octave, Tufts University’s sQ!, and UMass Amherst’s Doo Wop Shop.

This year, EmerSong will also feature performers from Concord Academy, Lexington High School, and Weston High School, as well as adult groups Broadband and The Works, both of which include members from Concord.

Tom Rutledge of Concord will emcee the festival, which will offer cabaret-style seating with snacks, soft drinks, and a cash bar at the evening show.

EmerSong “is a celebration of community and music — both essential to well-being — while raising critical funds to support those on their journey to wellness,” said Steve Reider, director of behavioral health at the hospital.

Event sponsors include NAMI Central Middlesex, a local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and Emerson Health President and CEO Christine Schuster.

Tickets are $35. For details, visit emersonhospital.org/EmerSong.
