Sanborn Middle School demolition is underway and the building should be down in the next few weeks, project advisers say.

Jennifer Soucy of architectural firm SMMA said under the construction schedule, demolition will be completed by April 18, the eve of Patriots Day observances.
Pre-demolition activities at Sanborn have included salvaging materials, clearing debris and plants, and stripping the topsoil to prepare the site, officials said. Since February 25, crews have been abating asbestos and removing hazardous materials.

Residents can expect continued demolition-related noise as well as truck traffic as rubble is taken off the property. According to schools Superintendent Laurie Hunter, there are plans to divert the trucks to main roads.
“[The trucks] were all using GPS and cutting [through] all neighborhoods and back streets,” said Hunter. “I think we’ve committed to not do that again because we did get complaints — rightfully so.”
