Concord Police log highlights: March 19-25, 2025

Wednesday, March 19

9:25 a.m. A driver was cited for partially blocking a travel lane on Monument Street. The driver moved the car. 

9:30 a.m. Police cited a driver for a stop sign violation near the intersection of Stow and Hubbard Streets and driving an unregistered vehicle. The driver renewed their registration on site. 

10:07 a.m. A driver on Route 2 near Sudbury Road called 911 to report an erratic driver weaving in and out of traffic, yelling at other motorists, and making obscene hand gestures. Police responded and notified State Police and Lincoln Police Department, as the vehicle was in Lincoln. 

1:29 p.m. A passerby asked police to do a wellness check on a woman in a car parked near Monument Street and Buttricks Hill Road. The woman and the male driver were walking on Monument Street, and police gave them a ride to Dunkin’ on Thoreau Street. Police cited the man for driving after suspension and a marked-lane violation. 

3:21 p.m. A Laws Brook Road resident asked to speak with the animal control officer about a possibly injured squirrel in her yard.  

4:55 p.m. A woman called police after her daughter told her a man was lying next to a bike at South Meadow Field. Police responded and said the man was OK.

Thursday, March 20

8:24 a.m. Police received a 911 call near Shadyside Avenue. When they called the number back, the caller said they had rung 911 by accident. 

8:33 a.m. The school department reported that a bus couldn’t pass arborist vehicles on Westford Road that were working on the Middlesex School campus. Police responded, and the vehicles were moved to a location where traffic could pass.

3:17 p.m. A dump truck got caught on a low-hanging wire on Fitchburg Turnpike near Garfield Road. Police responded and reported minor damage to a pole and wires. The truck was removed, and Concord Municipal Light Plant was notified. Police said there was no power outage. 

4:22 p.m. A Main Street business said a floral arrangement was stolen from in front of the store overnight. The theft is under investigation. 

Friday, March 21

8:58 a.m. A Conant Street resident told police the street sign was removed and placed in her yard. CPW was notified. Police responded and said the sign was still intact. 

9:00 a.m. The Highway Department told police a man in an American flag mask was throwing blankets into the air and causing a disturbance near Dunkin’ on Thoreau Street. Police responded and said the man was not causing a disturbance. 

11:14 a.m. A passerby called 911 and asked police to check on a woman with a baby carrier on her chest wandering near Commonwealth Avenue and Beharrell Street. The caller told police they didn’t think the woman or baby were dressed warmly enough. They were gone when the police arrived. 

3:24 p.m. Police received a 911 call about a three-vehicle crash on Route 2 near Walden Street. Police responded and reported that one vehicle was on fire. A tanker was dispatched from Hanscom. All the people in the vehicles were removed. Police shut down Route 2. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation also responded.

8:05 p.m. Police cited a driver for failing to use care on Concord Turnpike and Sudbury Road. The driver also received a verbal warning for other violations.

Saturday, March 22

3:12 a.m. Police cited a driver with unlicensed operation of a vehicle and speeding on the Concord Turnpike and ORNAC. The vehicle was towed. 

11:50 a.m. A person dropped off an Apple Watch that was found on the trunk of his car on Belknap Street. The watch was returned to its owner. 

1:39 p.m. A Spring Road resident reported sickly red squirrels in her yard. One squirrel was missing an eye, and another was “oozing.” ACO was advised. 

4:00 p.m. The rear window of a vehicle was partially smashed while parked on Balls Hill Road. Police said it was unknown whether the vehicle was broken into or vandalized. 

4:21 p.m. A father and son found a green Old Town Canoe along the Concord River. It was hauled to the shore behind Concord Academy. 

4:49 p.m. Police responded to a burglar alarm at a home on Southfield Road. The side door was open, and there was a car in the driveway. Police checked the house and secured the door. 

8:00 p.m. A caller said someone was using his Facebook account, which he had closed about a year ago. Police tried to call the reporting party back. 

8:52 p.m. A tree blocked the road near Pine Street and Upland Road. The CPW responded and removed the tree. 

9:01 p.m. Police received a call about a tree on Simon Willard Road. CPW removed the tree. 

9:03 p.m. Police responded to an alarm at a home on Minot Road. Police responded, reported an open rear door, and checked the residence. Police said the interior was secure and that the door may have been blown open by the wind. 

Sunday, March 23

1:30 a.m. A Peter Spring Road resident said someone banged on his door numerous times, ran away, and got into an SUV. Police responded, checked the area, and said they would do extra checks of the area during the night. 

12:13 p.m. Police received a 911 call near Blueberry Lane. The caller told police it was accidentally made by their Apple Watch. 

1:11 p.m. Police received a 911 call from a Barretts Mill Road resident about a cat crying in her backyard. ACO was notified. 

6:30 p.m. A Main Street resident reported their dog got out. ACO was notified, and the dog later returned home. 

10:20 p.m. Police responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle heading toward Monument Square and saw a vehicle with a loud exhaust swerving in the road on Elm Street. Nikolay Brovin, 29, of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, was charged with OUI-liquor second offense, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, marked-lanes violation, and an equipment violation. 

Monday, March 24

1:36 a.m. A driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle after suspension, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding following a traffic stop on the Concord Turnpike at ORNAC. 

8:38 a.m. A resident on Nathan Pratt Drive called 911 and said someone was pounding on her door, asking if someone was there. Police responded and did not see anyone. 

8:13 p.m. A driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle after suspension following a traffic stop near Lowell Road and Bow Street. The driver waited for a ride from his girlfriend. 

Tuesday, March 25

10:18 a.m. A staff member at Thoreauly Antiques reported that a locked box containing $1,500 in jewelry was taken from the store on Saturday. The incident is under investigation. 

12:51 p.m. A phone found near Debra’s Natural Gourmet was turned in to an officer at Station 2. Police returned the phone to its owner. 

12:58 p.m. Police cited a driver for a stop sign violation on Main Street and Florio Drive. The driver also received a warning for not having a vehicle inspection. 

4:05 p.m. Police received multiple calls about a loose dog near Route 2 and Main Street. State Police found the dog and took it to the barracks. ACO was notified to pick up the dog.
