The Concord-Carlisle High School girls lacrosse team began its 50th anniversary year with a vengeance — literally.

The Patriots’ opening night 14-13 win over Central Catholic on April 2 avenged a 2024 semifinals loss to Central, the ultimate Division 1 Lacrosse champion.

The Patriots returned 11 members of last year’s team, along with eight new players joining the varsity squad.

The game was tight through the first half, with the Pats holding a 6-3 advantage at the break. The third quarter saw a flurry of scoring with 13 goals in 15 minutes — seven goals by Central to six goals by Concord-Carlisle. The Patriots held on in the fourth quarter, winning draw controls and moving the ball to optimize their shots while managing the clock.

Sophomore Alex Hooven made her first varsity start in goal, turning away 10 shots against a formidable Central squad.
