H. Margo Fleming, 82, of Acton passed away peacefully on December 17th in Sudbury. Daughter of the late James (Jim) Fleming and Adaline (Lena) Fleming of Hawick, Scotland. Beloved mother of Fiona Nauseda and her husband, Curt, proud Granny to Connor, and Sierra, and Natalie of Maynard.
Margo was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and was fiercely proud of her Scottish heritage, maintaining her British citizenship after immigrating to the United States in 1968. She remained close to her family and friends in the UK and enjoyed traveling back to Hawick and the Scottish Borders, where she was from.
Margo held a Master in Arts from St. Andrews University, where she studied French and German before completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Secretarial Science in Glasgow in 1962. She later worked for the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland before she made her way back to the UK – moving to London, where she joined a jazz club and met her former husband, Peter B. Crimes. They immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1968 and eventually moved to Massachusetts, where Fiona was born. She continued her career as a secretary, latterly working for Arthur D. Little and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Margo was an avid reader, lover of languages, crossword puzzles, the beach, travel, socializing with friends, and spending time with her long-time companion, Francis (Frank) Corcoran. She and Frank enjoyed traveling to Florida and the Cape every year – as well as simple pleasures such as dancing, watching Seinfeld reruns, playing golf, and going out to dinner. Most of all, they brought each other much love, laughter, and joy.
Margo will be missed by her grandchildren, son-in-law, Curt, extended family, friends, and Fiona, with whom she shared a special bond. She and Fiona enjoyed many wonderful adventures together, including traveling in Europe and visiting her in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua.
A celebration of Margo’s life will be held after the holidays.
Margo was a strong supporter of many nonprofit organizations, volunteering her time and making charitable contributions for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of your choice.
