Concord’s share of the Fiscal Year 2024 budget for Minuteman Regional Technical High School is $1,643,006, a 4.5 percent increase from FY23.
According to Superintendent Kathleen Dawson, the students are wholly from member towns, so there is no money from out-of-district tuition. The budget, including all towns, is $30,316,325.
Dawson said the increase is due to three new full time teachers coming onboard to handle increased enrollment, along with inflation. Transportation costs rose 5 percent, while utility costs grew by 8 percent.
Concord’s assessment is up sharply, Dawson said, due to a spike in local students. There are 18 freshmen, eight sophomores, and five each for the junior and senior classes. So far, she has made 21 offers of enrollment to eighth-graders in Concord for the coming year at the Lexington campus.
New teachers are for animal science, math and engineering.
Member towns include Acton, Arlington, Bolton, Concord, Dover, Lancaster, Lexington, Needham and Stow.
