Sharon Lee Walden Wyman, 81, died peacefully in her Concord home in the Chamberlain Apartments at Newbury Court on August 3. She was born on August 14, 1941 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Reginald and Dorothy Wyman of Stoneham.
Sharon earned a B.A. in psychology from Framingham State College, and an M.Div. from Boston University. She dedicated her life to helping and advocating for people in marginalized communities, such as founding a Women’s Caucus in the 1970s, counseling at-risk teenage girls at the Concord Assabet Walden School, and serving as a Psychiatric Counselor for the Behavioral Health Dept. at Emerson Hospital.
She was a fierce advocate for human rights, attending marches, participating in immigrant justice work, and being a devoted friend to all. Sharon was a headstrong, self-assured woman, with strong passions for the people and causes she cared about. She loved unconditionally and gave generously. Whether it be in her convictions and advocacy, commitment to her patients, or in her relationships, she threw her whole self in.
Sharon leaves behind her two daughters; Kimberly Walden King of Townsend and Jennifer Wyman Kaizen of Chapel Hill, NC, as well as seven beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Barbara Wyman of Maynard, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 7, at the Duvall Chapel at Newbury Court at 10 a.m.. The service will also be livestreamed for those who cannot attend the service in person.
