Members of the Regional School Committee discussed “reinvigorating the dialogue” regarding the Concord-Carlisle High School campus, superintendent spokesperson Tom Lucey said.
Before the pandemic, he said, the regional committee had undertaken “a public process to examine goals and needs for the CCHS campus” via a Campus Advisory Committee.
In the 2017-18 school year, the Campus Advisory Committee identified five potential improvements to campus, including installing permanent restrooms at Memorial Field and an outdoor track facility on the area of the old landfill site.
Regional committee members stressed this was the very beginning of the process and that there would be significant public engagement prior to pursuing any projects that emerge as priorities, Lucey said.
In addition, the committee will perform due diligence for each proposal to better understand challenges and potential solutions. They cited “exploring the issue of the state’s plumbing code requirements for the number of toilets that would need to be installed given the seating capacity of the Memorial Field stadium.”
The committee also discussed a process to determine if private fundraising might cover the costs of any of the priorities.
