Concord Police log highlights: October 9-15, 2024

Wednesday, October 9

4:30 a.m. A Sudbury resident reported a man called and said her Bank of America account had been wiped out and that the bank was a part of it. Police advised the woman to contact the Sudbury Police Department.

8:35 a.m. The assistant chief of the Concord District Court reported “a large number” of protesters in front of the courthouse, noting the activists were “calm.” Police responded but found no issue, as about 50 people were protesting on the grass, not blocking the roadway, and another 10 people were protesting on the other side of Walden Street, also not blocking the roadway.

9:06 a.m. A motorist called 911 to report he was involved in a hit-and-run crash on Sudbury Road. The caller said he was approaching Route 2 eastbound when a red Honda Civic hit his car. Police caught up to the Civic on Route 2 near Walden Street and cited the driver for leaving the crash scene with property damage, negligent operation, and marked-lane violations. 

Thursday, October 10

10:51 a.m. A Central Street resident reported that someone had struck their vehicle’s mirror while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied between 6 and 10 a.m. that day.

5:06 p.m. Police stopped an unregistered car on Sudbury Road near Wheeler Road and arrested the driver, a 27-year-old Framingham resident, who was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant out of Stoughton District Court. 

Friday, October 11

10:51 a.m. A Walden Street resident reported he had bought headphones through Facebook Marketplace the other day from someone he thought was a high schooler. The man later discovered the headphones were counterfeit and contacted the seller, who gave him a refund, but the man wanted police to be informed.

11:59 a.m. Volvo reported one of their cars was involved in a crash with airbag deployment in the Route 2 rotary. No one was injured in the collision at the on-ramp for Elm Street from Route 2 westbound. Officers temporarily blocked off Elm Street at Baker Avenue Extension. State Police handled the crash investigation.

12:58 p.m. A Dana Road resident reported he lost $1,900 in a fraud scheme. Police responded.

3:15 p.m. A 911 caller reported her son and his caregiver were in a car crash at TD Bank on Main Street. There were no injuries, but police ordered a tow for the minivan and delivered the son’s wheelchair to a Derby Street address.

5:30 p.m. State Police requested that an ambulance respond to a four-car crash on Route 2 eastbound near exit 125. Emergency responders took three people — a man and his two children — to Emerson. Passengers in the other cars were evaluated at the scene. Lincoln police handled the investigation for the collision about a quarter mile from Tracey’s Corner. 

Saturday, October 12

8:29 a.m. A passerby on Commonwealth Avenue reported hunters near the bike path along the state-owned fields. Police responded and heard and saw nothing of concern on the Rail Trail or at Gerow Park.

10:29 a.m. A Sunnyside Lane caller reported a fraudulent Facebook Marketplace transaction in which they received a shipment of a facial machine that they later confirmed was stolen from the manufacturer. Police responded and determined the matter was a civil issue between the seller and a company in Philadelphia. 

1:51 p.m. A Barnes Hill Road resident called police after seeing a “suspicious” man crouched in the woods while pulling into her shared driveway. Police responded and located the gray-haired man performing tree work in the area. The man refused to identify himself, but police found no issues.

6:46 p.m. A caller reported an older man wearing a running suit and holding a dog approached his car and tried to get inside after the driver picked up a pie from Concord New London Style Pizza. Police responded but were unable to find the man in question.

8:12 p.m. An Arena Terrace resident reported an older man pulled into his driveway, knocked on the door, and asked to come inside before leaving. Police responded and determined the man may have been attempting to return a wallet. 

9:42 p.m. An Old Marlboro Road resident reported his dog missing. The dog was described as a golden retriever with a red collar. The man last saw the dog in his yard an hour earlier. Police notified the animal control officer, but the owner called back to say he had found the pet.

Sunday, October 13

9:34 a.m. A Main Street resident reported an injured fox, described as “limping and very skinny,” walking down the side of the road toward downtown. Police notified the animal control officer and advised the caller that they were keeping an eye on a sick fox in the area.

3:17 p.m. Multiple residents around Main Street reported hearing “loud bangs of either fireworks or multiple gunshots.” Police responded and learned Acton and Maynard police received similar calls. Police discovered the noise likely came from a World War II demonstration happening in Hudson.

4:26 p.m. A Hawthorne Village resident reported a young boy sitting in her backyard under a tree holding a stuffed animal. The homeowner said they did not recognize the boy and did not see any adults nearby. Police responded and spoke to the child, who they learned lived nearby and had ridden his bike there.

Monday, October 14

6:22 a.m. A passerby on Old Bedford Road reported seeing someone wearing all black crouched behind a car blowing on the exhaust pipe. Police responded but found no one matching that description in the area.

2:17 p.m. A Beharrell Street resident asked to speak with an officer about harassing text messages she has been receiving. Police responded.

Tuesday, October 15

9:04 a.m. An Old Pickard Road resident reported a dead opossum on the roadway near his driveway. Police notified Concord Public Works.

11:30 a.m. A River Street resident reported a 17-foot motorboat floating down the river with no one aboard. The River Street resident secured the boat to her dock. Police contacted South Bridge Boathouse staff, who confirmed a boat had floated away from their dock while it was being redone the day before. Police contacted the boat owner, who retrieved the vessel.

12:18 p.m. An Eaton Street resident reported a fraud scheme. Police responded.
