What’s better than an October gridiron battle between two old rivals and a good cause? The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle would like to thank the Concord, Carlisle, and Westford communities for making our raffle at the October 18 CCHS Patriots football game a great success. Fans from both sides of the turf were enthusiastic with their ticket purchases, while the CCHS boys played their hearts out.
The Scholarship Fund is especially grateful to Mike and David Robichaud for pulling the winning ticket in honor of their father: All raffle proceeds go to The Charles A. Robichaud Scholarship, which honors former CCHS teacher and coach Al Robichaud.
The Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships to students from the Concord and Carlisle community who have demonstrated financial need. Since its inception, The Scholarship Fund has provided $3 million in scholarships to over 1,400 students.
Making the raffle possible were CCHS Athletic Director Aaron Joncas, head coach Josh Reed, head custodian Steve Wall, and CCHS announcer David Bell. A huge thank-you to the CCHS cheerleading team for selling tickets and promoting a great cause.
Finally, The Scholarship Fund owes huge thanks to the winning ticket holder, Mary Desmond. Mary is a CCHS special education teacher who was cheering for her CCHS students and for her father, Grey Ghosts special teams coach Sandy Ruggles. In the true spirit of the evening, Mary and her daughters Grace and Harper chose to donate their winnings back to The Scholarship Fund. Thanks to their generosity and the enthusiasm of the crowd, almost $1,500 was raised, which will go directly to supporting next year’s scholars.
