CC golf wraps up season on a high note

The Concord-Carlisle golf team closed out its season with a series of impressive performances, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the State Sectional Tournament held at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton.

Shooting a combined 313, the Patriots secured their spot in the Division 1 State Championship. Unseasonably warm weather, brisk wind, and lightning-fast greens made for a challenging game.

Leading the charge was senior captain Will Spring, who strategically relied upon his 2-iron off the tee, finishing with a 2-over 74. Co-captain Erika Redmond also contributed, navigating the tricky conditions to post a respectable 8-over 80.

Rounding out the team’s scoring were sophomore Glen Murdough, with a 79, and junior Theo Price, who posted an 80.

At the State Championship, held at The Haven Country Club in Boylston, the team couldn’t overcome the wind, the championship conditions, or the fierce competition of Catholic Conference teams present.

CCHS finished fifth, posting a 328. Despite the disappointment, the team stayed unified and battled hard. The low CC score of the day was turned in by Glen Murdough, who shot 81, followed by Theo Price and Jake Erston, both at 82, and Spring at 83.

Bouncing back

The Patriots bounced back in style on October 23 at the Dual County Invitational at Wedgewood Pines in Stow. Nicknamed “The Revenge Tour ’24,” the team dominated the 10-team field to take home the title.

Despite battling the leaves on the ground and a bee sting that affected her play, Erika Redmond finished her standout high school career, posting a 76. She and her sister Sophie will move on to the New England Championship.

Spring also finished up an impressive four years by posting a 74, while junior Ahrinn Desai continued to impress with a solid 5-over 77.

Several players earned accolades this season. Spring, Erika Redmond, and Desai were named to the All-Conference team, while Murdough, Erston, and Price each secured a spot on the DCL all-star squad.
