The Concord Milldames held their 55th Annual Fall Luncheon at the Nashawtuc Country Club. Vice President June Myles’ careful planning and attention to detail garnered much enjoyment to all who attended.
A short business meeting was led by President Nancy McKinney. Polly Murray gave the treasurer’s report. Leslie Cheney updated the members on the recipients of The Milldames’ scholarships for 2022. Carol Harney, chairperson of the social committee, gave an account of activities of the past three years — much of which happened over Zoom due to Covid restrictions — and a picture of events to come. Some of the accomplishments over the past few years have been: the yearly scholarship distribution, donation to Open Table, donations and welcome packages for Household Goods Acton, visits to the new Sign Museum West Concord and the new Rasmussen wing at the Concord Museum.
The highlight was the appearance of Concord’s own Jan Turnquist, an internationally acclaimed portrayer of Louisa May Alcott and executive director of Orchard House, the Alcotts’ home.
