Betsey Wood was surprised to find a bobcat when she looked out the window recently, calmly enjoying a bit of sunshine in her backyard. “Apparently they are rarely seen,” she wrote in an email to The Concord Bridge. She speculated it had been on the prowl around the nearby Sudbury River.
Bobcats are the only wild cat found in Massachusetts and are about twice the size of a domestic house cat, weighing up to 35 lbs. They tend to be elusive and shy and are common in the western and central parts of the state.
