The Concord-based New Life Fine Arts will present one of its most popular original musical theater productions, “Celestial City: The Story of John Bunyan and His ‘Pilgrim’s Progress,’” for eight performances, Dec. 9-18 at the Groton-Dunstable Performing Arts Center, 344 Main St., Groton.
This production, written and directed by David MacAdam of Concord, features a cast of 37 musical theater performers and creatively weaves together elements of John Bunyan’s 17th-century autobiography with his most famous allegories, “The Pilgrim’s Progress” and “The Holy War.”
Glenn Gray of Sudbury, who has performed with New Life Fine Arts productions in England, Israel, and the Boston area, returns in the role of the real-life John Bunyan and his fantasy counterpart in the allegorical character of Pilgrim. Gray has worked locally at Concord Printing for the past 35 years. This season his wife Jo-Anne and four of his 10 children, Jasmine Gray, Sparrow (Hartley), Carrie-Anne (Anthony) and Charlotte (Harris) and his grandson Elliott Harris will be joining him on the stage.
Evening performances of “Celestial City” will be held at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, and Saturdays, Dec. 9 and 10, and Dec. 16 and 17. Matinees are 2:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 10 and 11, and Dec, 17 and 18. Tickets are now available for purchase online at www.newlifefinearts.org/tickets
