Carmen Spinelli

Carmen F. Spinelli, 92, of Concord, died on Dec. 5 at Emerson Hospital, following a brief illness. He was the loving husband for 68 years of Margaret “Peggy” (Florio) Spinelli.

He was born in Concord on Feb. 17, 1930 to his late parents, Joseph and Mary (Dentino) Spinelli.

During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army and was awarded The Purple Heart prior to being discharged in 1953 as Private First Class. He was proud to serve the Town of Concord as a Police Officer in the 1970’s, which was followed by many years as a General Contractor, prior to retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Joseph Spinelli and his wife Donna of Maynard, Lisa Bodwell and her husband David and Holly O’Loughlin and her husband John, all of Fort Myers, FL, his grandchildren, Joseph Spinelli, Jr. and his fiancé Leah, Scott Bodwell and his wife Meghan and Daniel Bodwell and his wife Leann, three great grandchildren, Joshua, Kaitlyn and Colton, two sisters-in-law, Mary Giles of Waltham and Eileen Murphy of Stow, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Spinelli, and his sister, Rose Dagostino.

Family members will gather for a private funeral service in the Farrar Chapel of Dee Funeral Home, Concord Center. Burial will follow with U.S. Army military honors at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Concord.

Concord’s Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Wednesday, Dec. 14 in recognition of Mr. Spinelli’s honorable military service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
