Lift your voice in song

Join your friends and neighbors at the Christmas Eve carol sing in Monument Square Dec. 24 at 7 p.m.

The tradition of gathering around the town Christmas Tree is returning after a COVID-inspired break. Arthur Motter Lamb, music director for many years at Middlesex School, founded the tradition sometime in the late 1940s. He was succeeded by Don Frothingham (late 1950s to ‘70s) and David Edgar (1970s to ‘80s). John Hutchins then took over the reins, organizing and conducting the event for over 25 years, with Clifford Bean co-directing and many others lending support, including the Concord Police Department and the Concord Department of Public Works.

This year’s gathering is in memory of Dave Brownell, who died in the summer of ‘21. A selfless and spirited man, he set up the platform for the event each year with joy.
