Stephen Olsen

December 15, 2022

Stephen R. Olsen, of Concord, the beloved husband for 53 years of Linda (Shaw) Olsen, died suddenly at Emerson Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 4.  He was 78.

He was born in Boston on June 8, 1944, as the son of the late Lillian (Robinson) Aliseo and the Late Christopher Olsen.  The family resided in Boston until Steve was 10, at which time they settled in Concord.  He graduated with the class of 1964 from Concord-Carlisle High School, where he played football.

After moving to Concord Steve spent many hours working closely with his step-father, Gaetano Aliseo, on renovations to the family home.

Steve enjoyed remaining active throughout his life.  In 1974, he joined the Acton Minutemen, before transitioning to the Concord Minutemen in 1979. The organization meant the world to him, and he loved participating at various historic celebrations and events over the years.  He achieved the rank of Drum Major, Lieutenant, and served as Captain for five years.  To honor his Scottish heritage, Steve became very involved with the Highland Games, specifically as a Commissioner for the Yankee Branch of the Clan Gunn Society.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he leaves behind his daughter, Stephanie Mehl and her husband Jacob of Grants Pass, OR, two siblings, Robert Olsen of WY and Judy Massie of NY, a brother-in-law, Wayne Beers of New Brunswick as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was also the brother of the late Constance King, Brenda Beers and Christopher Olsen. He had also in the last few years come to know numerous cousins from the Robinson side of the family.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Monday, Dec. 12 from 4 to 7 pm at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.  Steve will be laid to rest during a private burial service at Green Cemetery in Carlisle on Tuesday, December 13th.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Concord-Carlisle Community Chest, 19 Main Street, Suite 2, Concord, MA 01742.

Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.  To share a remembrance or to offer a condolence in Steve’s online guestbook, please visit www.DeeFuneralHome.com.
